Hey, beautiful babies! Isn’t it just gorgeous out? Oh my goodness, I have been waiting all winter for this! It’s so nice to tear all of nature’s decorations down in the fall and then start again fresh in the spring, but sometimes I wish the winter in-between weren’t so long! For the first few weeks I plop down on the couch next to the fire, curl up with a blanket and Chai tea, and catch up on Gossip Girl. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy that for a little, but it’s only a matter of time before I’m yearning to sip Mai Tais on the beach in Cabo with my besties!
I’ll let you in on a little secret; I didn’t wait as long as I should have to start my spring decorating this year. Oops! I just couldn’t! All winter I stare at the fields of snow like blank canvases and get so excited waiting for my seed to explode all over it. Rose seed, hydrangea seed, wildflower seed—you name it; I’m blowing it all over the place! Ask any of my friends, Chico or Stefan or Rodrigo for example, I am a floral pattern whore! Guilty! Flowers on the ground, flowers in the trees, flowers everywhere! I can’t get enough. But it makes the outdoors the ultimate drab to fab story in design.
This year, I got my hands on some AMAZING color swatches and fabric samples. Oh, and I’ve been on Pinterest, like, nonstop. Some people out there are so creative it’s unbelievable! Just look at all these pins! Now, I only have a certain budget to work with, but don’t fret! I was still able to get some early spring showers to wash all that icky grime off the sidewalks. I was also able to find these amazing faux rocks. Don’t they look so real?! They’re absolutely fetch, and they’ll look so great on mountainsides and whatnot. I also splurged on a few rainbows. Take a picture of them, Instagram it up with your favorite filter, and watch out Ansel Adams!
I moved the sun a little higher in the sky to allow for longer days and more flattering light. It shines beautifully on butterflies, and flowers, and – oh my gosh your hair! Are those new highlights? I love, love, love them! And I love your layers! Ahhhhh, I’m friends with a supermodel!
Also, listen closely, and you’ll hear the birdsongs have returned. The silence is so monotonous in the winter. Can you believe I just said monotonous? I’m such a nerd. I don’t usually change the bird songs up from year to year, because it would freak people out, but on April 21st listen to the robins. They’ll be singing a Rihanna song, but I won’t tell you which one because it’s a surprise. Ahhhhh! It’s “We Found Love!” I couldn’t wait.
I just love busting out my sunglasses and driving in my Beetle—my Beetle CONVERTIBLE. It’s very important to make that distinction because my arms and face wouldn’t get sun kissed if it weren’t. Plus I love when my hair blows around in the wind, but not too much because then it’s a bitch to tame.
Just get out there and enjoy my work! There’ll be boys playing shirtless volleyball (you’re welcome, ladies ;)), and you’ll be able to go out on the deck with a nice white zin under the moon and stars and curl up in the arms of your man candy. Yum!
Oh, and pardon my dust, but renovations don’t happen without some debris floating around in the air so if you have allergies you might be a bit of a sneezy Susan, but it’s gorgeous out so whatevs! Later, babies!
XOXO,
God
