A Definitive Schedule To Plan Your Own Athens Coffee Crawl

For some reason, this spring at UGA has been especially dreary and tired. That’s why we thought it best to plan an Athens Coffee Crawl, but never actually make any moves to put it on. We’re so tired. Feel free to use our schedule to put on the crawl yourself, but try your hardest not to actually crawl from place-to-place, regardless of how tired you may be.

7:00 a.m. 1000 Faces Coffee:
First stop, 1000 Faces Coffee on Thomas Street. In their parking lot down the street, you can park for free, making the rest of your crawl significantly easier. This coffee shop easily has the best morning-coffee vibe in Athens.

7:30 a.m. Jittery Joe’s Downtown:
This Jittery Joe’s is your go-to Athens morning cup of joe. The bright orange cups are essential for keeping your eyes open. And after the light roast of 1000 Faces, you should always hit your taste buds with the ultra-dark roast that Joe’s has to offer. It’s best to confuse your mouth right before you hit the books.

8:00-10:00 a.m. Class:
While getting caffeinated is important, at The Black Sheep, we would never suggest that you forego your class schedule just to get some coffee. So go to class, learn something, and pee a few times so that the crawling can continue.

10:30 a.m. Tate Starbucks:
After you’ve successfully looked like you paid attention but actually paid no attention whatsoever in all your classes, it’s time to go stand in the way-too-long line for way-too-mediocre coffee. But, we think that the Tate Starbucks is worth being on our coffee crawl because your payment can be in the form of a tax-free deduction to the seemingly never-ending stream of Paw Points on your UGA ID.

11:00 a.m. Two Story Mourning Ceremony:
After you get your iced-mocha-frappa-way-too-sugary-to-be-legal Starbs drink, you can simultaneously intake and burn your calories by walking over to the Five Points site of the late coffee shop, Two Story. You can honor the property by taking the remainder of the chain coffee in your hand and pouring it on the front steps in an act of outrage against corporate schemes.

11:30 a.m. SIPS Coffee Bar:
After you take your stance on big business, you should make your way over to the smallest coffee shop in Athens. Selling both 1000 Faces and Jittery Joe’s coffee, SIPS is a perfect blend of all the coffee offerings in Athens, pun very much intended.

Here’s to getting #caffeinated.
