A New and Improved Mizzou Fight Song

author-pic at University of Missouri

Now that football season is back, it’s time to brush up on some of the game day traditions many of us Tigers go through. From the numerous different chants to keys being rattled on third downs, to the cannon that makes us piss our pants each time we score (which is often), we have many obligations as Tigers that really complete Saturdays at Faurot Field. We at The Black Sheep have taken the liberty of updating the fight song to ensure a bit more accuracy on game days at the Zou.

It’s tailgate season, which means the drinking,
Starts at 11:00 in the morning,
Cover your ears, for when we score,
Because the cannon has no warning,

Pounding beers before the game is fun
Until you have to walk.
We may not beat the other team,
But at least we have Drew Lock!

Hit it,
HOORAY, HURRAH, MIZZOU, DREW LOCK,
HOORAY, HURRAH, MIZZOU, DREW LOCK,
DREEEW-LOCK, DREEEW-LOCK, DREEEW-LOCK,
TIGERS!

Drinking for several hours,
Sure does take its toll.
Our kicker is supposed to be so good,
But he can’t make a damn field goal.

So when the crowd says M-I-Z,
Yell out Z-O-U,
We may not win the football game,
But Missouri here’s to you…

WE don’t care what the scoreboard says,
Four quarters of fun we had,
One week closer to basketball season,
When we’ll see the Porters.

MICHAEL, PORTER, MIZZOU, HURRAH,
JONTAY, PORTER, MIZZOU, HURRAH,
DREEEW-LOCK, DREEW-LOCK, DREEEW-LOCK,
TIGERS!

So once the game is over,
No matter, win or lose,
We’re going down to Field House,
Missouri here’s to you.

Every time the other team scores,
We all will take a shot.
Even if we aren’t good,
At least we have Drew Lock!

HOORAY, HOORAH, MIZZOU, DREW LOCK,
HOORAY, HOORAH, MIZZOU, DREW LOCK,
DREEW-LOCK, DREEEW-LOCK, DREEEW-LOCK,
GO TIGERS!

Now that you know the new fight song, you’re more than ready to attend the football games this season. By this time next week, everyone will know the new lyrics to our fight song in all its glory. So in case you’re at the next game and you’re the only one singing the “right” lyrics, just know everybody else is wrong.
