Booze Review: Kahlúa

College students sure love their coffee and alcohol. While the former is generally consumed in the a.m. and the latter in the p.m., the line between the two has been blurred as students chug dark roast to get through an all-nighter and darty it up on the weekends. With Kahlúa, a coffee-flavored liqueur, you get the best of both worlds.

Grade: B

Smells Like:

A coffee shop that doubles as a liquor store. Why are we not funding this?!

Tastes Like:

Your usual order at Starbucks mixed with your usual order at the bars.

Typical Drinkers:

– People with both a caffeine and alcohol problem.

– Baristas who regret majoring in art history.

– A solid 20% of the people in any given 8 a.m. lecture, including the professor.

– Those who don’t like the Irish and thus refuse to drink Bailey’s.

User Comments:

– “Crap, I’m out of creamer. I guess this Kahlúa will have to do.”

– “Yeah, I’d like a venti caramel frap but leave a little room for, uh, stuff…”

– “All I’m saying is that they never specified a.m. or p.m. when they said it’s 5 o’clock somewhere.”

– “People get an espresso shot in their drinks all the time so I don’t see why I can’t put a shot of this in mine.”

Best Described as a Drink Superior To:

Dealing with everyone’s bullshit while sober in the morning.

Are People Going to Know That I’m Drinking Alcohol If I Mix This In My Coffee?:

It smells almost identical to a creamer, but it’ll probably be pretty obvious that you’ve been drinking when you’re slurring “good morning” to everyone.

How Much Kahlúa Should I Put In My Drink?:

About ½ to 2 ounces of Kahlúa for every 8 ounces, depending on the kind of day ahead of you.

We Mixed it With:

Our coffee in the morning and vodka and cream at night to make a White Russian.
