Is it snow? Is it sleet? Is it just a slightly colder rain than we’ll experience every afternoon of March and April? WHO CARES? El Presidente has made the proper decision and closed down Clemson—all that’s left for the student body to decide is what to do with this cold, wet gift of a day. Fortunately, The Black Sheep has compiled five of the greatest Clemson-themed movies. It’s time to branch out from snow-day classics like Frozen or Home Alone, because these movies all feature tigers.
It’s called the wildest tiger movie ever made, and while it might be a bit more obscure, the three man-eating tigers that star in this Bollywood epic are well worth your attention on a snow day. Just sit back, relax, and relive the hilarity of the USC vs. Clemson game as you watch the Tigers’ opposition trip over themselves in their haste to escape the sheer awesome of tigers.
4.) In the Shadow of the Tiger:
This film follows a mother tiger and her cub as they journey through Siberia, dodging poachers and eventually finding refuge in one of the few wildlife preserves in remote Russia. Be prepared to cover your laptops, water bottles and cars in “Tigers for Tigers” stickers, because in addition to making you grateful for indoor heating, this documentary will probably turn you into an activist.
3.) The Tiger Walks:
On the other hand, if you want to experience the hilarity of the green-screen movie era anew, you could always go with this 1960s film in which a circus tiger escapes in a small town. Warning: hot chocolate consumption during this movie could lead to burns, as you snort hot chocolate out of your nose with laughter.
Another Hindi movie? That’s right, friends! Think Jaws but with a tiger. This recent movie is action-packed and features an ass-kicking—or, uh, ass-eating—tiger that’ll make you proud of our mascot. The human leads of this film venture into the jungle to avenge the death of one of their own, but there’s no fooling anyone: the show belongs to the tiger.
1.) Ice Age:
It would be a crime not to mention this winter classic. He might not be the orange and black striped cat we all know and love today, but Diego is still a tiger and we still love him. Ice Age will allow you to revel anew in the tiger’s long history of all-weather badassery from the warmth of your couch. Besides, the jury is still out on the actual color of saber-toothed tigers, so you can always pretend. Bonus points for binging the whole series!
Of course, if you don’t feel like committing to anything, you could always laze around with YouTube clips, like this adorable tiger with unexpected friends, or this disaster waiting to happen. Now go ahead, Clemson tiger, and curl up under your bright orange blanket with a stuffed tiger for snuggles—you’ve totally earned this day off.
