R.I.P to Another KU Basketball Season

Well, this blows. The NCAA just crowned a National Champion and it wasn’t KU basketball.

The worst part? The fact that it’s not like we even played that badly, it’s just hard to win when a team decides they’re all fucking snipers, shooting the lights out of the Alamodome ceiling.

Sure, better three-point defense would’ve helped, but it probably wouldn’t have been enough. That was the perfect game from Villanova. It was historic. Those assholes from Philly tied the NCAA record for most threes in a Final Four game… IN THE FIRST HALF!

Fucking dumb. We wanna know who the dick was that put in that cheat code. Seriously, seven different guys made a three for Villanova. Four of them made at least three. Holy shit. The fucking Harlem Globetrotters aren’t even that good.

Now we have to say goodbye to some of the most beloved Jayhawks of all-time, and it sucks. A lot.

When Devonte’ came off the court for the last time, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. You don’t have a heart if seeing him hug Coach Self didn’t make you feel it.

DTae was supposed to go to Appalachian State. We poached him. Stole him away when our coaches saw something in him that not many others did. Holy shit were we lucky. The Big 12 Player of the Year, National Player of the Year finalist, and he even had a rap song made about him (Shoutout to RedHead for Free DTae — it slaps).

And Svi… Oh, Svi. We all love that guy. We practically grew up with him. He came to campus at age 16, just a little baby Ukranian, and now look at him. He officially holds the record for most threes in a single season by a Jayhawk. That’s a big freaking deal. And that accent is just another piece of why we all love him so much.

Overall, this was a season of a million memories. We, as Jayhawk fans, will always remember the highs and the lows, but most of all, the fact that this team never quit. They stuck together and got themselves to a Final Four when they were counted out by many early in the year.

This wasn’t one of the most talented KU teams of all time, but it was certainly one of the most memorable. Until next season, Jayhawks. See you at Late Night.
