Sometimes, you just have to take a nap. Whether you need one because of class, a drunken night out, or you’re just fucking tired, a good nap can make or break your day. However, it’s not always easy to find the right spot for your siesta. That’s why The Black Sheep has compiled a list of the 8 best places to nap at UMD! Check it out:
8.) The Mall:
If you haven’t taken a nap on the Mall yet, you’re clearly not making the most of your warm and sunny days. The Mall is the best place to begin your illustrious napping career at UMD. All you need is a backpack (to use as a pillow) and to go out and stake your claim on a spot in the grass.
7.) A Study Cube at McKeldin:
Thanks to the privacy provided to you by the walls, napping in a study cube grants you the illusion of productivity, even when all you’ve done all day is write angsty poems on the desk. A true napping connoisseur will take full advantage of all of the space available in their particular cube.
6.) Any Elevator:
The elevators at UMD are notorious for being so slow that someone died waiting for one (at least that’s what we heard). Once you actually manage to get on an elevator, it’s the perfect place to curl up for a quick two-three hour snooze
5.) The Jim Henson Statue’s Lap:
If you find yourself in need of words of wisdom, inspiration, or just somewhere new to nap, head to Ol’ Papa Jim and rest your head on his weary metal crotch. The shade from his chiseled arm will protect your tender eyes from the sun, and you’ll be ready to work again in no time.
4.) The Back Corner of an Empty Classroom:
If you’re anything like us, you’ve probably fallen asleep in class on countless occasions. So why not give napping in the back corner of an empty classroom a shot? You know the desks are comfortable enough and, if we’re being honest, it’s not like you were going to do work anyway.
3.) A Bench in Stamp:
If you’re any kind of normal, you probably wake up hungry for a post-nap snack. That’s why one of the best ways to nap is by falling asleep on any of the benches or chairs in Stamp. You not only wake up to the sweet smell of Chick-fil-A, but it’s right there for you to purchase. That’s the high life.
2.) Right On Top of the ODK Fountain:
Looking for a cool, refreshing place to take a nap between your afternoon classes? Just sleep on top of the fountain on the mall! The best part is that there’s no risk of oversleeping here, since odds are you’ll accidentally just roll right into the water and splash yourself awake.
1.) A North Campus Dorm Floor Lounge:
Looking for a more spacious place to nap where you can really stretch out? Then the dorm lounges are just what you need! Upperclassmen and commuters need not fret: simply tailgate a freshman into their building and assert your dominance by taking over their lounge’s couch. You’ll be sleeping like an angel in no time.
