Finals week is coming and one of the items on your shortlist of things to do is a necessity of life: eat food. The closest thing to “food” during finals week, however, is a Frappuccino and a couple of Triscuits. And of course when finals are done, a good meal heals all. Oxford may be a small town, but has some world class dining options that are about to take comfort food to a whole new level for your pre, during, and post finals week needs:
This North Carolina classic will open up in a couple months where KFC and Long John Silvers used to be, a major upgrade. Cook Out will serve up delicious burgers, Carolina style BBQ, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs and more. There are so many combinations it’ll make your head spin.
A treat for all the New Yorkers who represent Rebel Nation. Don’t worry about not being able to get a hold of a classic bagel for lunch or breakfast. With a Southern twist, this Mississippi restaurant chain is bringing Times Square to Oxford with its homemade sandwiches and cupcake desserts.
There are a number of Mexican restaurants in town already, but Coyote Blues brings a fresh take to the scene with a Creole and Tex-Mex fusion. When going to snag a bite from this Louisiana original, we recommend the taco platter, shrimp and grits, or the mountain of tilapia and crabmeat. We’re certain no tiger bait is used when making these Cajun influenced bites.
If you’ve ever met a Texan, then you know how much they love to talk about everything Lone Star State (i.e. Dickey’s). If you’ve had the pleasure of going, you know that it’s the real deal. Their loaded baked potatoes, racks of ribs, pro style BBQ, and homemade ice cream will make you feel like Walker Texas Ranger when you’re done.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a Bulldog, Rebel, or Lannister; everyone loves Mugshots. Founded in Hattiesburg, this palace of burgers has been making award-winning burgers for over a decade. True visionaries, they’ve reinvented the wheel with their specialty burgers such as the Big Kahuna pineapple burger and the Reagan’s Peanut Butter Burger, don’t knock it till you try it.
There’s the run down of what will hopefully be Oxford classics soon. With all of the new eateries coming to town, we might all have to start taking health classes to watch our calorie intake or else the fitness biz in town will see a boom in expansion too.
