Spring semester is in full swing at the University of South Carolina, and the campus is pulsing with life. A sign of this pulse is a current protest that is taking place on campus known as the “All-Right” movement.
“All answers should be right!” is the battle-cry of the group and their leader, Eric Donaldson, as he leads a protest in front of Gambrell Hall. The Black Sheep asked a student, Anna Reeves, what exactly are you protesting? Said Reeves: “Someone is finally taking a stand against those elitist professors who act like they are always right. I mean, what gives them the authority to say I’m wrong?!”
The Black Sheep sat down with Donaldson and to get background information on this fledgling movement; “Well it was during one of my political science classes, and we were getting a test back. I got an ‘F’. I knew this couldn’t possibly be right since I know I’m one of—if not the— smartest kids in class. So I went to Dr. Jackson’s office hours and calmly explained why the grade must have been a mistake, and how I must’ve really gotten an A. Well according to Jackson’s ‘answer guide’, that makes him right, and that’s why I started this movement. Why should I let someone who is obviously not as smart as me tell me I’m wrong?”
The Black Sheep contacted Dr. Jackson for his take on the incident. “Yeah Donaldson came barging into my office, yelling about how he didn’t deserve a ‘fucking’ F,” said Jackson. “So I offered to let him sit so we could go over the test. His response to kick over one of my chairs and flip me off as he exited the room.”
The Black Sheep will continue to follow this story for any updates, and we will also follow the protests, as the seem to be taking the campus by storm. According to Mr. Donaldson, the next protest is going to be in front of the McKissick Museum on Thursday.
