Summer’s coming, which means some of us lucky people actually get to get out of here for a few months. Our condolences to those who have to stay, but for those leaving, here are five things you need to do to say goodbye to UCR this week.
5.) Have a heart-to-heart with the Scotty statue:
The Scotty that sits on the bench is a great listener, as many of us know already. Who can go three months without him? Make sure you get a chance to say goodbye, because you’ll regret it if you don’t.
4.) Skinny dipping in SRC pool:
You could play it safe, and go late at night while everyone’s drowning their finals sorrow so no one will be there, but what’s the fun in that? We recommend going in the middle or late day, when the gym is most crowded.
3.) Sesh at the C:
Considering the legend that if you hike to the C at the beginning of the quarter you get straight A’s, most people have been at least three times. Most people also take advantage of the view and really get in touch with nature and plants. Even though going to the C now will not get you straight A’s (it totally does if you go at the beginning of the quarter, though), you have to have one last sesh to relieve your finals.
2.) Last meal at La Fiamma:
“Oh no! La Fiamma is getting replaced with Pieology! I’m so sad!” – no one. But end of the year gets people sentimental, even for things they once claimed to hate. You have to have one last overpriced pasta meal with hard-as-rock breadsticks while playing “Thnks fr th Mmrs” by Fall Out Boy.
1.) One last drink…everywhere:
Now, one last drink goes without saying. But if this is the drink that’s going to cap off this whole school year, you have to make it count. You have to make it more special than crappy beer at Getaway, or hiding yourself in your dorm room. You have to take one shot for every location you had a class in. One class in INTN fall quarter and one class there in spring? Two shots at INTN. Go through your old schedules. Live through your old memories. And you’ll definitely be needing that drink after that.
As much shit that is talked about UCR, deep down, we all love it (yes, we speak for everyone). Sometimes the bad outweighs the good, but hopefully this list will help end this year on a positive note, so that in September we’re ready to do it all over again. #UCRAVERSIDE4LIFE.
