VOTE: Who Makes it to VCU’s Munch Madness National Championship?

VCU dining nowadays is more slept on than Monroe Park benches. With options such as Panda Express, Chick-Fil-A, Einstein’s, and even the Pod, there are more than enough options to fulfill your self-diagnosed malnourished stomach. With these many options to choose from, and with March Madness being as big as tuition is after our yearly 10% increase, we thought that would should have a little Munch Madness of our own. Much like the NCAA March Madness, we have seen the weakest fall and seen upsets rise into our Final Four of Feasting. Behold…

4.) Cane’s:
Cane’s is the weakest seed here. Where they lack in quickness of food distribution and the degree of post-meal fullness, they make up for in chicken, bread, and the most beloved portion of this competition: the Sister Jean of Cane’s, Cane’s Sauce. After defeating Shafer in the first round of the Sweets 16, we knew they had potential to make a deep run. Beating a weak Crouton’s team in the El-Eat 8 was a cake walk after winning against a team like Shafer. Can Cane’s continue raising their play to reach the championship belt for their oversized stomachs? Or can they outplay the Dining Dollar Delight that is Chili’s?

Projection: A Final Four exit.

3.) Chili’s:
Chili’s is currently hotter than the girl’s Instagram that you stopped stalking to check out this article. Coming off of a shocking victory against Kung Fu’s heavily favored Panda, Chili’s is looking to continue their Cinderella Story, Hilary Duff-style! Freshii honestly never stood a chance against the Dining Dollar Delights, but a win against the number one-seeded Panda Express was extremely impressive. This poor man’s-Applebee’s thriving with a daily happy hour menu for both appetizers and alcoholic drinks is the favorite against the number-one seeded Cane’s. Can Chili’s continue their historic run? Or will Cane’s stop their hot streak, chilling out Chili’s hot run?

Projection: Championship appearance. Loss in the final.

2.) Chick-Fil-A:
Chick-Fil-A is the fan-favorite here in the fan of this VCU Munch Madness tournament. After taking out IHOP in the first round with more ease than a student taking ENERGY 101, it was known that Chick-Fil-A was going to make a run. Then, they had to face another heavy favorite in the El-Eat 8 against the MVP of the MCV, Jonah’s. Chick-Fil-A, led by their leaders, Saturday Swipes, chicken sandwiches, milkshakes, and their famous Chick-Fil-A sauce, made it so Jonah’s had an early exit than intended in the El-Eat 8. Can Chick-Fil-A continue their push towards the finals with their most difficult opponent yet? Or will Bleecker St. make sure that Chick-Fil-A gets the Chick-Fil-D?

Projection: A Final Four Exit.

1.) Bleecker St.:
The most talented team all-around and the most consistently delicious option on this list of Sweets in the Sweets 16 has to be Bleecker. After a win over the one-fourth-of-a-meal for the price of a swipe’ Pizza Hut, Bleecker St. was feeling confident about their signature sandwiches sending them into the Final Four of Feasting. Bleecker met Einstein’s, killed them, and ‘shmeared’ their blood on top of their everything bagels. Now, here in the Final Four they have the universally loved Chick-Fil-A. This will be testing Bleecker’s depth, as they will be involved in their toughest game yet. Can Bleecker make Chick-Fil-A Option B? Or will the walk be too much for students leaving them bleaker than Bleecker?

Projection: Championship appearance … and a championship trophy!
